“I’m dreaming of a sunny Christmas…” ?
For those of us from northern climes like Britain, Norway, Belgium, Poland… to have a Christmas party when it’s sunny and warm outside is perhaps still a wonderful novelty. At least it is for those of us who haven’t lived in Spain very long.
And so it was that a good number of SoloAmigos convened at El Martillo in Moraira, clad in their best party gear: glittery, colourful outfits, all ready to trip the light fantastic under the glare of the disco lights… but then being quite unable to resist lingering for a while outside, soaking up the warm sunshine as a prelude to the celebrations.
Enjoying bubbling glasses of cava, chilled vino blanco and cool cervezas, we were in festive mood as some of us met newer members for the first time or re-acquainted ourselves with friends we hadn’t seen for a while.
Lubricated by the aforementioned bubbly, Solos Leader Sheran nevertheless did a sterling job of organising financial operations by relieving us of the necessary moolah to pay for the impending extravaganza.
With the prospect of some delicious food and more vino waiting, we eventually went inside and got the main event started.
The lovely people at El Martillo then served up a selection of tasty morsels during the afternoon and put up with our noisy revels at the same time.
At the end of our feast, Sheran got the dancing started and unleashed her impressive alter-ego as a full-on disco diva.
The music volume and solid beat were perhaps not for the faint-hearted, and so we divided into those of us who simply need to dance to validate our existence, and those more sensible among us who prefer to preserve their hearing by returning to some peace and quiet.
Let’s hope we all have a happy and joyous Christmas and New Year, and our best wishes to absent friends!
¡Feliz Navidad a todos!
